Lantern in the Rain (Devotional Slow-Swelling)

Verse 1

I came with empty hands

Mud on my ankles, dust in my hair

The road kept turning hard

And every sign said, "stay in fear"

Pre-Chorus

Then I felt it near

Soft as morning on my skin

A steady pulse inside

Like mercy waking me again

Chorus

You are the lantern in the rain

You are the lantern in the rain

When I can't see the way

You lead me home again

You are the lantern in the rain

You are the lantern in the rain

Right through the storm and shame

You lead me home again

Verse 2

I had my share of cracks

Hands full of things that would not stay

But You kept meeting me

At every bend I lost my way

Pre-Chorus

And I hear Your name

Like a psalm beneath the wind

A holy, patient call

That brings my scattered heart to Him

Chorus

You are the lantern in the rain

You are the lantern in the rain

When I can't see the way

You lead me home again

You are the lantern in the rain

You are the lantern in the rain

Right through the storm and shame

You lead me home again

Bridge

Let the flood come down

Let the dark press close tonight

I have seen Your flame

And it will not lose its light

I will follow still

Past the sorrow, past the ache

'Cause even in the cold

Your mercy makes a path awake

Final Chorus

You are the lantern in the rain

You are the lantern in the rain

When I can't see the way

You lead me home again

You are the lantern in the rain

You are the lantern in the rain

Right through the storm and shame

You lead me home again

You lead me home again
