The Tomb Is Empty (Contemporary Christian)

Verse 1

At the hill where mercy opened wide

Love was lifted, wounded for our pride

The ground grew still beneath the weight of grace

And heaven held its breath before the dawn broke through the grave

Pre-Chorus

The stone was sealed, the night was long

But death could never hold the Holy One

Chorus

The tomb is empty, Jesus is alive

The risen King has shattered every chain tonight

The cross is finished, redemption has begun

Hallelujah, death is overcome

Hallelujah, death is overcome

Verse 2

At first light, the women came with tears

Found the folded cloth and angel words of cheer

He walked among them, scars still shining bright

The One who bore our sorrow stepped into the morning light

Pre-Chorus

The stone was rolled, the grave let go

The living Christ has conquered every foe

Chorus

The tomb is empty, Jesus is alive

The risen King has shattered every chain tonight

The cross is finished, redemption has begun

Hallelujah, death is overcome

Hallelujah, death is overcome

Bridge

No power of darkness can silence this song

No fear of dying can tell us we're wrong

Our Savior is risen, our hope has a name

The Lamb who was slain now reigns and reigns

Choir

He is risen, He is risen

Jesus lives forevermore

He is risen, He is risen

Open wide the prison door

Final Chorus

The tomb is empty, Jesus is alive

The risen King has shattered every chain tonight

The cross is finished, redemption has begun

Hallelujah, death is overcome

The tomb is empty, let the whole earth sing

Glory to the Savior, our Redeemer King

From the grave to glory, victory has come

Hallelujah, death is overcome

Hallelujah, death is overcome

Outro

Jesus lives, Jesus reigns

Death is broken, hope remains

Jesus lives, Jesus reigns

Forevermore, forevermore
