The Stone Was Rolled Away (Solemn-To-Triumphant Contemporary)

Verse 1

At dawn the garden held its breath

The grave stood cold beneath the stone

The price was paid, the veil was torn

You walked into the dark alone

Pre-Chorus

But mercy moved before the morning

Hope was rising with the sun

Chorus

The stone was rolled away

The grave could not contain You

Jesus, You have conquered death

Your living love has made us new

The stone was rolled away

Our hearts can rise and praise You

Hallelujah, Christ is risen

Hallelujah, life is breaking through

Verse 2

The women came with trembling hands

And found the linen lying still

The angel spoke of what You promised

And every fearful heart grew filled

Pre-Chorus

Now every chain has lost its power

Now every soul can hear Your call

Chorus

The stone was rolled away

The grave could not contain You

Jesus, You have conquered death

Your living love has made us new

The stone was rolled away

Our hearts can rise and praise You

Hallelujah, Christ is risen

Hallelujah, life is breaking through

Bridge

From crucifixion into glory

From the sorrow into song

You have opened up the doorway

Where the lost can now belong

We were buried in our failure

You have raised us by Your grace

Every breath becomes a witness

Every heart becomes a place

Final Chorus

The stone was rolled away

The grave could not contain You

Jesus, You have conquered death

Your living love has made us new

The stone was rolled away

Our hearts can rise and praise You

Hallelujah, Christ is risen

Hallelujah, life is breaking through

Outro

Christ is risen, Christ is risen

New life is breaking through
