On the Third Day (Christian Worship)

Verse 1

At the hill where mercy met the wood

You bore the weight no heart ever could

The sky grew still, the earth held its breath

Love walked through the valley of death

Pre-Chorus

But the stone could not hold what heaven had spoken

The seal could not silence the promise unbroken

Chorus

On the third day, the grave gave way

Hope rose brighter than the dawn

Death lost its claim, Jesus lives again

Our broken hearts are reborn

Hallelujah, our King has come

Hallelujah, the night is gone

On the third day, we found new life

In the mercy of the Risen One

Verse 2

Now the scars are a banner of grace

Every sinner can turn and see Your face

From the ashes, a people arise

With a living song and awakened eyes

Pre-Chorus

The stone could not hold what heaven had spoken

The seal could not silence the promise unbroken

Chorus

On the third day, the grave gave way

Hope rose brighter than the dawn

Death lost its claim, Jesus lives again

Our broken hearts are reborn

Hallelujah, our King has come

Hallelujah, the night is gone

On the third day, we found new life

In the mercy of the Risen One

Bridge

No chain, no sorrow, no power of sin

Can stand before the life within

All praise to Jesus, the Lamb who reigns

Our God turns mourning into praise

Final Chorus

On the third day, the grave gave way

Hope rose brighter than the dawn

Death lost its claim, Jesus lives again

Our broken hearts are reborn

Hallelujah, our King has come

Hallelujah, the night is gone

On the third day, we found new life

In the mercy of the Risen One

Outro
