Beneath the Shadow of the Cross (Soulful Worship)

Verse 1

Under the noon-day dark

I stand where mercy bled

Thorns in the shattered sky

And love above my head

Your blood on holy wood

My fear laid in the dust

A broken world grew still

When heaven kept its trust

Pre-Chorus

I come with empty hands

I come with all my shame

You did not turn away

You called me by my name

Chorus

Beneath the shadow of the cross

I find my soul again

Beneath the shadow of the cross

Your mercy meets my sin

Beneath the shadow of the cross

I am held, I am held

(Beneath the shadow)

(Beneath the shadow)

Verse 2

The veil was torn in two

The stone gave up its seal

The grave could not keep down

The weight of what You heal

Now every ache I bring

Is met by wounded grace

The hands that made the stars

Still reach for my face

Pre-Chorus

I come with empty hands

I come with all my shame

You did not turn away

You called me by my name

Chorus

Beneath the shadow of the cross

I find my soul again

Beneath the shadow of the cross

Your mercy meets my sin

Beneath the shadow of the cross

I am held, I am held

(Beneath the shadow)

(Beneath the shadow)

Bridge

When silence fills the room

And sorrow asks me why

I look to Calvary

And lift my weary eyes

You wore the night for me

You drank the bitter cup

So when my heart runs dry

Your love still lifts me up

Final Chorus

Beneath the shadow of the cross

I find my soul again

Beneath the shadow of the cross

Your mercy meets my sin

Beneath the shadow of the cross

I am held, I am held

(Beneath the shadow)

(Beneath the shadow)

(Beneath the shadow of the cross)
