At the Foot of the Cross

Verse 1

I bring my broken hands

To where the rough wood stood

The hill is quiet now

But mercy understood

I lay my striving down

The names I tried to earn

Beneath the wounded sky

I watch my heart return

Pre-Chorus

Every tear I cannot hide

You have gathered at Your side

Chorus

At the foot of the cross

I surrender what I’ve carried

At the foot of the cross

All my debts are buried

Where the innocent Lamb

Gave His life for me

I am held by mercy

I am finally free

Verse 2

The scarlet stain has dried

The stone has heard the cry

Yet from that darkest hour

A morning learned to rise

I do not come with gold

Or promises made strong

I come with empty arms

And find where I belong

Pre-Chorus

Every fear I cannot name

Meets the kindness of Your grace

Chorus

At the foot of the cross

I surrender what I’ve carried

At the foot of the cross

All my debts are buried

Where the innocent Lamb

Gave His life for me

I am held by mercy

I am finally free

Bridge

Let my weeping become praise

Let my wandering be erased

From the ashes of my shame

You have called me by my name

Final Chorus

At the foot of the cross

I surrender, I am sheltered

At the foot of the cross

Grace has made my spirit lighter

Where the innocent Lamb

Gave His life for me

I am held by mercy

I am finally free

Outro

At the foot of the cross

I am finally free
